GARDEN CITY, NY, July 3, 2012 -- The Journal of Accountancy recently named Robert L. Israeloff, CPA of Manhasset one of the 125 People of Impact in Accounting, recognizing the leaders who left a mark on the profession. Israeloff is the founder of Garden City based Israeloff, Trattner & Co. In celebration of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) 125th Anniversary, the June 2012 issue of the Journal of Accountancy (JOFA) identified 125 people who made a significant impact on the profession since 1887, the year the organization that became known as the AICPA was founded. In naming Robert L. Israeloff, CPA, the JOFA wrote "A champion of small and local practitioners, Israeloff chaired the AICPA board of directors in 1994 - 1995, and the AICPA's special committee on accreditation of specialization, whose report described areas where new accreditations could help CPAs compete and separate themselves from non-CPA practitioners."

"We are very proud of all that Bob Israeloff has accomplished, and are pleased he is being recognized for his contributions to the industry," said Israeloff Trattner President and CEO Michael J. Garibaldi, CPA/ABV/CFF. "Bob was a true visionary and the Firm he built has stayed true to his legacy maintaining our strength in servicing the closely held business owner and pursuing our niche and specialty areas," Garibaldi noted.

The JOFA issue also included a rare look into the origins of the CPA exam itself, featuring Israeloff's own original exams from 1960 to 1963, and a copy of the exam governing rules. "I'm proud to say I passed all four parts the first time," said Israeloff who was honored by the AICPA with a Gold Medal for Distinguished Service, the Accountants Club of America (ACA) with a Lifetime Professional Achievement Award, and was inducted into the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants (NYSSCPA) Hall of Fame.
