GARIBALDI EARNS EXCLUSIVE CERTIFIED IN FINANCIAL FORENSICS CREDENTIAL AS FINANCIAL FORENSICS EXPERT

GARDEN CITY, NY, OCTOBER 22, 2008 -- Michael J. Garibaldi, CPA/ABV, a financial forensics expert with Israeloff, Trattner & Co., CPAs, has recently been awarded the Certified in Financial Forensics (CFF) Credential by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). The CFF credential, established in 2008 by the AICPA, is granted to qualified CPAs with considerable professional experience in financial forensics.

Michael Garibaldi met the requirements to earn the CFF credential, which include demonstrating significant business experience in the area of financial forensics as well as completing a minimum of 75 hours of life-long learning and education activities in the area of financial forensics. The CFF credential is granted exclusively to CPAs who are members in good standing of the AICPA which binds them to the AICPA Code of Professional Conduct. CPAs who have earned the CFF credential must be recertified every three years to maintain their credential.

Garibaldi is President and chief executive officer of Israeloff, Trattner & Co., CPAs, PC, and the officer in charge of the firm's Forensic Accounting, Litigation and Valuation Consulting Groups. A forensic accounting and business valuation specialist, Garibaldi works closely with law firms and other professional practices and closely held businesses where he is responsible for providing accounting and management consulting services, forensic accounting, business valuations, tax planning and financial reporting. "Unfortunately, white collar crime continues to endanger businesses," Garibaldi said. "Financial fraud can happen anywhere and though the high level multi-million dollar cases are the ones in the news, frauds and misappropriations exist in every level of business."

Garibaldi often handles fraud audits to uncover misappropriated assets; business valuations to identify the true economic income of a company; and damage analyses to determine the amount of losses a company suffered due to the actions or inactions of another party. Forensic accounting is often necessary in shareholder/partner actions to ascertain the amount, if any, a shareholder or partner may have been denied by the controlling shareholder. "We are often called in to review books and records, trace transactions, follow the flow of funds, and in many instances, uncover where monies were diverted or siphoned from business operations, thereby depriving the non-controlling/minority shareholder or partner out of their fair share of profits," Garibaldi said.

Garibaldi qualifies as an expert witness on valuation matters in New York Supreme, Kings Supreme, Queens Supreme, Nassau Supreme, Suffolk Supreme and Westchester Supreme courts and has been called upon by the courts to serve as a neutral expert.

Michael Garibaldi is a candidate member of the American Society of Appraisers; member of the Institute of Business Appraisers; and former president of the Nassau Chapter of the NYS Society of Certified Public Accountants. He is also a member of the Long Island Chapter of The American Society of Appraisers and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, NYSSCPA and the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners.
